Sample digestion is time-consuming, expensive, and impractical for large sample runs such as those needed in wastewater and industrial applications. Additionally, digestion consumes bench space, necessitates fume hoods, and requires measurement of hazardous reagents. Lachat's new IL500P and IL500N analyzers eliminate all these problems.

Designed for the wastewater market, but used in other areas of water analysis, the IL500 automatically digests water samples with particulates up to 1mm in diameter, and then analyses them for the unattended determination of orthophosphate and total phosphorus or inorganic and organic nitrogen in aqueous samples. The control unit features an easy-to use interface and can manage both system units (including autosamplers) simultaneously. Additionally, both systems feature a choice of autosamplers, one that holds 36 50-mL vials with stirring functionality, and another that holds 53 15-mL vials for cleaner samples.

Samples are processed every 2 minutes, allowing a 4-7 minute turn around time for results. An infrared port and RS232 interface allow for easy data transfer to a PC or LIMS. Optional features include a portable keyboard for simple programming and barcode reader for quick sample identification.

Lachat offers LachatChem, ready-to-use reagent sets for up to 100 tests that are color-coded for easy reagent identification. The reagent compartment is easily accessible for quick, clean reagent replacement. Lachat also offers traceable standards for calibration and quality control, as required by laboratory protocol and regulatory agencies.
