New Lachat methods gain USEPA Approval for Drinking Water

Lachat Instruments, A Hach Company Brand, announces USEPA approval of their newly developed Ultra High Throughput Methods for Total Cyanide, Orthophosphate, and Nitrate/Nitrite under the National Primary Drinking Water (NPDWR) Regulations.

The Ultra High Throughput Methods allow for over 100 samples per hour to be analyzed through Lachat’s QuikChem 8500 Flow Injection Analyzer, increasing productivity & reducing reagent consumption. These methods are already considered equivalent for NPDES under the March 12, 2007 USEPA Method Update Rule.

10 Lachat Methods under the latest MUR do not need letters of approval for monitoring under NPDES

Lachat has received a USEPA letter that covers adaptation of Lachat SFA, FIA, and self-filling reagent vial methods to meet USEPA requirements, and clarifies circumstances for methods that do not need ATP review. This letter also Includes a list of 10 Lachat methods for which ATP submissions have been returned without need for further USEPA action.

Lachat MICRO DIST system receives USEPA approval for cyanide distillations in NPDES and NPDWR testing. March 12, 2007 — the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has amended the Code of Federal Regulations (40 CFR Part 136) to provide full approval for a new method: "Digestion and Distillation of Total Cyanide in Drinking and Wastewaters using MICRO DIST® and Determination of Cyanide by Flow Injection Analysis." This rule applies to all facilities that must conduct monitoring and provide reporting to comply with NPDES and NPDWR permits.
